UPDATE (April 2023) - Due to people leaving trash all over the nest area and even cutting down trees on this private property, the owner has shut down this spot and posted the area. Do not disrespect him and his property rights, he is working on some sort of solution that will make viewing safe for the birds, his property, and the viewers and someday we may be able to return to this special location.

We headed down to the nest on Route 220 south of Sayre PA again today. Even though it had only been a week since we had been there, the trees had grown so many leaves that the nest was heavily obscured in a way that it wasn’t before. Even with this cover, we were able to witness some great moments with the two babies and the mother bringing in a tasty chipmunk and then cleaning out the nest.

When we arrived, the smaller of the two juveniles was picking at a fish head in the nest.

Big Yawn…

The larger juvenile just seemed to have such a “are you lookin’ at me” kind of attitude here.

The Orioles were all around the area.

Sibling fight…

We think this is the father flying in.

A delicious treat, a chipmunk to be swallowed whole.

Now a discussion about manners at the table…

We saw last week, that there was a carcass of what seemed to be a Canada goose in the nest, dad pulled it free and then flew off with it, dropping it in the river. I guess you need to keep the house tidy when people are nearby with a camera.

Waiting for the next treat from mom or dad.
