Ventosa Vineyards Wedding Photography
If you are looking for a picturesque Finger Lakes Region winery to hold your wedding, look no further than Ventosa Vineyards. Located on Route 96A, just south of Geneva New York, this vineyard has a Tuscan feel with ornate stucco, beautifully sculpted gardens, and a 23-acre vineyard that rolls down a gentle hill to the massive tree along the lake. This place was designed with wedding photography in mind.
Weddings ceremonies at Ventosa typically happen on the lawn behind the main house with the tree as a backdrop. If the weather does not cooperate, there is a large covered balcony that can accommodate your ceremony and guests. The staff is very helpful using multi-passenger golf carts to help transport your less mobile guests between the ballroom and the ceremony location. They even deliver hordurvers to the bride and groom during the formal photos while their guests are enjoying cocktail hour. In all everyone we have ever dealt with there have been truly a class act!
The grand ballroom is adorned with Tuscan frescos on the walls and is well situated with the dance floor, bar, and table space. The food, service, and drinks are all top notch. After the meal, you can plan to take some memorable sunset shots with the vineyard and the tree in the backdrop and some photographers are even able to take their wedding couple into the cellars for a few intimate portraits.
Tech Corner
The first image in this post, the shot of the couple by the tree is not your average snapshot. In its full glory, this is a 175-megapixel massive panorama image. The technique was to use an 85mm 1.4 prime lens due to its unbeatable sharpness and clarity and to blanket this area with shots. Working across the field of view in a zig-zag pattern from bottom to top, I took 85 images and then let Lightroom go to task merging them into a single image. Basically, you highlight a set of images and then click ctrl+M for merge to panorama. The real trick is to not have any gaps in your images, make sure you overlap every shot with the last one by around 25% of the viewfinder. The processing time to crunch 85 of these 30-megapixel images was crazy, around 25 minutes, but the result was worth the wait. The level of detail on the finished image is unbelievable and the bride and groom had us print this one for them in a 30x40 fine art print where you can see every individual leaf on the tree from the top to the bottom.
